‌The factors that affect the shot blasting strength of the shot blasting machine mainly include shot size, shot hardness, shot speed, injection angle, and shot breakage. ‌

‌Shot size‌: The size of the shot directly affects the impact kinetic energy and coverage of the shot. Generally speaking, the larger the shot, the greater its impact kinetic energy, but at the same time the coverage will be reduced. Therefore, while ensuring the strength of the shot blasting, smaller shots should be used as much as possible, while considering the limitations of the part shape‌.

‌Shot hardness‌: When the shot hardness is higher than the part hardness, the change in hardness value will not affect the shot blasting strength; conversely, if the shot hardness is lower than the part hardness, the shot blasting strength will decrease with the decrease in shot hardness. This shows that choosing the right shot hardness is crucial to maintaining the shot blasting strength‌.

‌Shot speed‌: Increasing the shot speed can increase the shot blasting strength, but it will also increase the amount of shot breakage. Therefore, it is necessary to find a reasonable balance between increasing the shot blasting strength and reducing the amount of breakage‌.

‌Injection angle‌: Keeping the shot blasting jet perpendicular to the surface to be sprayed can increase the shot blasting strength. If small-angle shot peening is necessary due to part shape restrictions, the shot peening size and speed should be appropriately increased.

‌Shot peening fragmentation volume‌: The kinetic energy of shot peening fragments is low. The more broken shots are, the lower the shot peening intensity is. Therefore, the broken shots should be removed frequently to ensure that the shot peening integrity rate is greater than 85% to maintain a high shot peening intensity.

These factors are interrelated and jointly affect the shot peening intensity of the shot peening machine. By reasonably adjusting these factors, the shot peening process can be optimized, and work efficiency and product quality can be improved.
