Founded in 1892, Gertrak Rubber Products designs, develops and manufactures vibration and shock resistant components for industrial use in wind, Marine, railway, industrial and automotive industries.

In order to ensure that the bushings, couplings and moulds manufactured have consistently high quality and long service life, the combination of quality between metal and rubber is essential. Surface treatment plays a vital role in this regard.

To this end, the metal must be degreased and shot blasted with steel before the rubber is bonded to the part.

 

For 15 years, Gertrak has used a Chunix SNB tracked shot blasting machine to complete the surface treatment process.

 

The equipment performed so well that when the old equipment eventually had to be discontinued, the company considered buying new equipment to replace it.

 

Gertrak approached Chun-Koo to buy an SNB-II caterpillar shot blasting machine, which is essentially the same type as the old one, but contains 20 years of innovative shot blasting technology.

 

 

The new equipment was ordered in March 2018 and put into service in June 2018.

"The new KNNJOO blasting machine is more compact, easier to operate and helps us drive improvements in programming, maintenance and filtering," said Manager Liu, Gertrak technical Director. Most importantly, however, we have never experienced unplanned downtime since installation, and the surface treatment of each part has been perfect.

Despite the trade-in, it was the 20-year gap between old and new equipment at Gertrak that brought the difference to immediate attention.

 

The new model has changed dramatically in terms of ease of maintenance, ease of use, and reliability.

 

Liu explained, "In the maintenance area, these improvements are transformational for the team here. For example, in the past, it would have taken us several hours to replace the blast blades. Now, we can do it in 30 minutes. "
