Causes of screw conveyor failure
The main reasons for screw conveyor failure include: motor failure, reducer failure, screw shaft failure, feed port blockage, etc.
Motor failure: The motor is the core component of the screw conveyor. Common reasons include motor overload, motor phase loss, motor overtemperature, etc. The treatment methods include checking whether the motor is overloaded, checking whether the motor wiring is correct, and checking whether the motor cooling system is working properly. Reducer failure: The reducer is an important component of the screw conveyor. Common reasons include reducer overload, reducer oil temperature is too high, reducer bearing damage, etc. The treatment methods include checking whether the reducer load is within the specified range, checking whether the reducer oil level and oil quality are normal, and checking whether the reducer bearing is damaged, etc. Screw shaft failure: The screw shaft is a key component of the screw conveyor. Common reasons include screw shaft bearing damage, screw shaft wear, screw shaft bending, etc. The treatment methods include replacing damaged bearings, repairing or replacing worn or bent screw shafts, etc. Feed port blockage: Feed port blockage is one of the common faults of screw conveyors. Common reasons include unreasonable feed port design and feed port being blocked by foreign objects. The treatment methods include checking whether the design of the feed port is reasonable and cleaning foreign objects in the feed port.
In addition, there are some other common faults and their causes, including:
Drive motor burnout: The reason may be that hard blocks or small iron blocks are mixed in the conveyed materials, which jam the auger, increase the current sharply, and burn the motor; too much material, the motor is overloaded and burns out.
Casing shaking: The reason may be that the center lines of the spiral sections are not concentric during installation, and the eccentric jamming during operation causes the casing to shake.
Excessive temperature rise of the suspension bearing: The reason may be that the position is improperly installed, and hard large objects are mixed into the machine to cause abnormal friction of the connecting shaft.
